Scale in a boiler

WHAT DEVICE TO CHOOSE TO PROTECT A PARTICULAR BOILER AGAINST SCALE?

Shown below are «Acoustic-T device» standard patterns of choice for boilers.

For steam boilers:

  • «Acoustic-T2» — for boiler capacity below 5 tons/h (2 transducers)
  • «Acoustic-T4» — for boiler capacity from 5 to 10 tons/h (4 transducers)
  • «Acoustic-T2» + «Acoustic-T4» — for boiler capacity from 10 to 20 tons/h (6 transducers)
  • «Acoustic-T4» x 2 — for boiler capacity from 20 to 30 tons/h (8 transducers)
  • «Acoustic-T4» x 3 — for boiler capacity from 30 to 50 tons/h (12 transducers)

For water heating boilers:

  • «Acoustic-T2» — for boiler power below 5 MW (2 transducers)
  • «Acoustic-T4» — for boiler power from 5 to 10 MW (4 transducers)
  • «Acoustic-T2» + «Acoustic-T4» — for boiler power from 10 to 20 MW (6 transducers)
  • «Acoustic-T4» x 2 — for boiler power from 20 to 30 MW (8 transducers)
  • «Acoustic-T4» x 3 — for boiler power from 30 to 50 MW (12 transducers)
  • «Acoustic-T4» x 4 — for boiler power over 50 MW (16 transducers)

HOW TO REMOVE SCALE FROM A BOILER IF IT HAS ALREADY BEEN OPERATED FOR A LONG TIME

The acoustic antiscale «Acoustic-T» device is installed on the boiler. Two weeks later, visual inspection (if possible) or pressure drop diagnostics is performed. Scale layer less than 1mm thick will disappear. If the unit is plugged up with old, multilayer scale, the scale will fissure and partly drop off. After that, it can be easily removed by common chemical or mechanical cleaning.
